Trusting in God’s Tender Timing
In Genesis 15, we find Abram—a man of faith, fresh off a great victory—wrestling with doubt. He has trusted God and seen God’s protection, yet he still faces unanswered promises. Abram’s struggle reveals a relatable truth: even those of strong faith sometimes wrestle with God’s timing.
When Abram voices his doubts, God meets him with gentle reassurance, promising that he will indeed fulfill his covenant. Rather than rebuking Abram, God takes him outside, showing him the stars as a picture of His faithful promise: “So shall your offspring be” (Genesis 15:5). Abram’s response? He believes, and it’s counted to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:6). This scene beautifully illustrates that God is both patient with our questions and committed to his promises.
God’s Promises in Our Own Seasons of Waiting
We often find ourselves in seasons of waiting, questioning, or struggling with unmet expectations. In such moments, God’s word offers the same reassurance He gave Abram. Verses like Hebrews 13:5—“I will never leave you nor forsake you”—and Philippians 1:6, reminding us of God’s commitment to finish the good work He began in us, are invitations to trust. They remind us that God’s timing, though often different from ours, is always perfect.
Living Boldly in His Timing
As we reflect on Abram’s story, let it encourage us to unburden our hearts before God, trusting Him with both our questions and our fears. In this trust, we find peace, a peace that allows us to live boldly, declaring the hope we have in Christ.
