At the Worst Possible Time
I know in my own life that there have been situations that seem to happen at the worst possible timing
Maybe the whole room got quiet just as you were telling an embarrassing story to a friend or you got sick during the family vacation or a global pandemic began and a lot of what we put security and worth in was shattered
But I’ve been reminded in Ecclesiastes 3
1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: 2 a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; 3 a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7 a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
As I look at this I’m reminded that God is in control and He does have a time for everything that happens, in the ups and downs of life God has a purpose behind it and a perfect timing for it even when we don’t understand ourselves
As we continue
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. 12 I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; 14 I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him. 15 That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.
We can see that it points to God who made everything, and it is beautiful, who put eternity in our heart, but that we can’t find out what God has done from the beginning to the end, we won’t know and understand everything. So there is nothing better for us to do than to be joyful and do good as long as we live.
I’m reminded of who God is that He is Creator and in Control, that we worship and praise a God who has everything in His hands, in His perfect timing He has all things under His control. It’s an amazing truth we can rest in
We ought to be joyful and do good and we remember and praise Him for Who He is and all that He has done, especially when we reflect on the Gospel, that Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again to pay the price for our sins and restore our relationship with God
I encourage you to rest on these truths, to spend time in His Word and now that He does have a perfect time and plan for all things. Pray that His will be done and HE would be glorified as you seek to be joyful and do good according to His Word. Praise Him for what HE has done for us in Christ that through even that time, which I’m sure seemed like the worst possible timing for many, God used for the greatest salvation, of all those who repent and believe in Jesus Christ.
